The Pulaski Heights Club, organized November 23, 1937,
and has had in excess of 128 members. We have met in many places
over the years until early December, 1958. We held our first meeting,
under the stadium stands in our present location at War Memorial Stadium.
Now, after 70 years and many improvements, the club is still meeting on the 2nd and 4th Monday evening of each month, except December when we only meet on the 2nd Monday. We offer excellent meals, good programs, and outstanding fellowship. Each year the club sponsors three meetings away from our den with spouses and special friends. In the spring we have a Teachers Award Banquet. In the late summer or early fall we have a cookout and in December we have a Holiday party. Pulaski Heights Lions Club membership includes numerous active lions who have served the state and district with distinction. The club supports projects at the Lions World Services for the Blind in Little Rock, the Mid- South Lions Sight and Hearing Service in Memphis, our own annual awards and banquet for teacher's in the three Pulaski County School Districts, special projects at the Arkansas School for the Blind and the purchase of eye glasses for local sight needs. We support Lions Clubs International Foundation thru our participation in the Melvin Jones Fellowship program and many other worthy projects. The annual Teacher Awards is the project generating the most recognition for the club while giving much needed recognition to teachers in the three school districts in the Pulaski County area. The club raises the funds to support these projects thru the sale of Razorback programs at their games in Little Rock and Ad sales for the programs. We collect and sell aluminum cans, lions mints, White Cane Days and other occasional fund raising events. |
