The Hot Springs Village Evening Lions Club was chartered in 1972 and currently has a membership in excess of 165.
This fast growing club sponsored the Village Breakfast Club in 1977 and
the Village Lioness in 1979. Hot Springs Village is a semi retirement
community made up of members that have relocated to the village from
all over the nation and are ready and able to give back to the
community.
The Evening Lions Club's activities over the past years has raised in
excess of 1.15 million dollars donating $825,000 for the blind and
other charitable organizations and over $325,000 for the benefit of
local organizations. To raise this money, the club is involved in
a variety of fund raising activities such as.
(1) Bingo
(2) annual 'pancake' day
(3) annual 'hamburger' day
(4) annual golf tournament
(5) Hot Springs Village maps and street index
(6) White Cane Day
(7) Salvation Army Day
The club is also involved in numerous humanitarian services at the local, national, and international levels including
(1) services to the youth
(2) providing glasses for the needy.
(3) rehabilitation for the blind and visually impaired.
(4) leader dog.
(5) assembly of braille bibles (1700 hours this past year)
(6) environment services-trash pick up (14-miles on Desoto blvd)
We have several members that have served Lionism in excess of 30 years
and a few in excess of 40 years and are also proud to have 4 members
that have served lion's above the club level.
